This position is for a Human Resources employee who is looking for his or her next step into the field.
PRN Ambulance and ProTransport-1 (Covalent Health) are leading EMS providers in California.
This opportunity will be full-time and a combination of in-office (3-4 days/week) and remote (1-2 days/week).
On-site attendance for meetings, handling of mail, and other functions will be required.

00 The HR Generalist maintains the daily functions of the HR department including but not limited to offboarding, employee relations, employee file maintenance, benefits, leave of absences and enforcement of company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:
Responds to employee inquiries via phone/email to include HR-related attendance and payroll topics, HR policies/procedures, system data entry updates, and other common questions.
Partners with the Onboarding Specialist to ensure timely and effective processing of all new hires, including preparing paperwork, processing background checks, drug screens, physicals/immunizations, driving and insurance clearance, certifications, and creating/maintaining personnel files.
Oversees ongoing certification program; ensuring employees are eligible to work.
Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training requirements, including continuing education.
Provides information to employees on matters pertaining to their personal employee information, on-boarding, and policies and processes.
Provides assistance to the Benefits team as-needed on items such as annual benefit open enrollment, tracking leaves and associated paperwork, and other general communication.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Handles off-boarding to include the exiting process, term tracking reporting, exit interviews and unemployment claims processing.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
Facilitate effective and positive resolution of lower-level employee issues.
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as requested.
Maintains HR records and ensures administrative compliance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
PHR or SHRM Certification preferred.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in Human Resources.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations relative to labor and employment issues (FLMA, FLSA, ADA, etc.
).
Experience working in healthcare and union environment preferred.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HRIS systems.
Thorough understanding of California human resources principles and practices, including but not limited to hiring practices, employment law, and EEO compliance.
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
